Albert J Solet, age 76, of Bayou Vista, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Albert was born in Houma, Louisiana.

Albert served in the US Army from January 1968 to January 1971. Serving in Germany for 15 months then South Vietnam for 12 months in communication repair. Albert and Vanessa dated for just over 3 years while he was in the service. He was honored to have her wait until he was discharged from the army for her to become his wife. They had their share of ups and downs and went through some hard times, but they managed to work through it all. Vanessa stayed with Albert through everything. Albert and Vanessa are true soul mates.

Albert retired from Avondale as an Electrician. He was a good father and father-in-law and a very cool papa who loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. He loved to talk politics and religion over a good cup of coffee. He taught religion at St. Bernadette Catholic Church and participated in the Bible Quiz.

Albert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vanessa Solet; children, Tanya Solet Quatkemeyer and husband Terry and John Solet and wife Kelly; grandchildren, Taylor Quatkemeyer Ordoyne and husband Chris, Sawyer Solet, Sloane Solet and Elliot Prejean; 1 great grandchild on the way; Justin Prejean and wife Amber and Cynthia Enfinger that he thought of as his family; siblings, Mary Ann Landry, Gertie Tupper and husband Ellory, Paul Solet and wife Anita, Betty Foret, Mary Landry and husband Tim and Alvin Foret, Jr. and wife Connie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis Solet and Emelda Naquin; siblings, Evelina Spears and John Solet.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Hargrave Funeral Home from 5pm – 9pm with a rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Hargrave Funeral Home from 9am – 11am. Mass of Christian will be at 12pm, Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Patterson, LA.
