Louisiana’s squirrel and rabbit hunting seasons open statewide Saturday, October 3, and run through February 28, 2027, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
LDWF says both are affordable ways to introduce young people to hunting. Hunters age 18 and older need a basic hunting license. Those visiting an LDWF wildlife management area also need a qualifying WMA access permit or license and must check in and out.
