HOUMA, La. — August 28, 2026
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured late Friday night in Houma.
Sheriff Tim Soignet said deputies were called to the 4000 block of Southdown Mandalay Road shortly before 11 p.m. following reports of gunfire.
When deputies arrived, they secured the scene and located two adult victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim’s current condition has not been released.
Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The investigation remains in its early stages, and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office says additional information will be released as it becomes available.
