Berwick Arrest Report 3-1-2021

Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests:
Daniel Griffin B/M 44 Fifth St. Morgan city was arrested on February 26,2021 at 11:16pm for
- RECKLESS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
- AGGRAVATED FLIGHT FROM AN OFFICER
- DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION
On Friday February 26, 2021 at approximately 11:10pm officers with the Berwick Police Department observed a vehicle traveling in a reckless manner in the area of Sixth Street. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle at which time the driver fled at a high rate of speed and traveling on the wrong side of the roadway on the La Hwy 182 bridge. The suspect vehicle veered into the oncoming traffic several times almost striking other vehicles. After a brief pursuit, the vehicle stopped on Federal Avenue at Railroad Ave. in Morgan City. Officers made contact with the driver Griffin, who was taken into custody without further incident. A computer check showed that his drivers license was suspended. Griffin was transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charges of Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Driving Under Suspension. Griffin was released on a $8,500.00 bond.
Mark Clements W/M 55 River Rd. Berwick was arrested on Saturday February 27,2021 at 12:04 am for
- DOMESTIC ABUSE BATTERY
Gina Clements W/F 53 River Rd. Berwick was arrested on Saturday February 27,2021 at 12:04 am for
- DOMESTIC ABUSE BATTERY
On February 27,2021 at approximately 11:30pm officers responded to disturbance call at a residence on River Road. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Mark and Gina Clements. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the married couple had been involved in a physical altercation with each other. Mark and Gina were both placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where they were booked on the charge of Domestic Abuse Battery. Both Mark and Gina later posted a $10 bond.
Philip Raymond B/M 31 W Admiral Doyle New Iberia was arrested on February 27,2021 at 2:31 pm for
- POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA
- POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
On February 27, 2021 at approximately 1:45 pm a traffic stop was conducted on us Hwy 90 on a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the course of the stop, officers made contact with Raymond and an odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted at which time marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle. Raymond was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Raymond later posted a $3,500 bond.
