The Franklin Police Department responded to 27 complaints over the past weekend and made the following arrests:
The following three (3) arrests stem from officers patrolling the area of Ninth Street in reference to previous high volumes of calls involving shots being fired in the area. Officers observed a vehicle with multiple occupants. Officer’s believed one of the occupants had outstanding warrants. With the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, officers approached the vehicle that was occupied by Butler, Brown, and Beverly; and officers and deputies observed a handgun in plain view. The subjects were transported to the Franklin Police Department for questioning and a search warrant was obtained to search the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, officers located two (2) handguns, illegal narcotics, and the paraphernalia.
Deondric Butler, 25, of Ninth St., Franklin, LA, was arrested on February 27, 2021, at 1:16 AM, on the charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of schedule I narcotics (marijuana) – 3rd offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Butler was additionally arrested on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court for failure to appear on the charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. Butler was booked, processed, and released on a $70,000.00 bond.
Joaquima Brown, 26, of Weber St., Franklin, LA, was arrested on February 27, 2021, at 1:16 AM, on the charges of possession of schedule I narcotics (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Brown was booked, processed, and held on a $20,500.00 bond.
Charles Beverly, 28, of Deforest Brown Ln., Franklin, LA, was arrested on February 27, 2021, at 1:16 AM, on the charges of possession of schedule I narcotics (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Beverly was booked, processed, and released on a $1,000.00 bond.
Jasmine Webb, 29, of O’Neal Chube St., Franklin, LA, was arrested on February 27, 2021, at 6:20 PM, on a warrant for St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for nonconsensual disclosure of a private image. Webb was booked, processed, and released on a $10,000.00 bond.
Shontranice McDaniel, 25, of Easy St., Franklin, LA, was arrested on February 27, 2021, at 6:20 PM, on a warrant dated August 18, 2020, for simple battery. McDaniel was booked, processed, and released on a $2,500.00 bond.
