HOUMA, La. — Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrests of two people following an investigation into a domestic disturbance and alleged home invasion at a residence in the 100 block of Property Court.
Brent Micah Crochet, 30, of Gray, and Rachel Ann Smiley, 45, of Cut Off, were arrested on multiple charges connected to the incident.
Deputies responded to the residence shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday, September 7, after receiving a report of a physical disturbance involving relatives. When deputies arrived, they found an adult man and woman with visible injuries believed to have been sustained during the confrontation.
Investigators learned that Smiley, who is related to the female victim, arrived at the residence with Crochet, her boyfriend. Authorities said an argument allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation after Crochet and Smiley forced their way into the home.
Deputies said evidence found at the scene was consistent with statements provided by the victims. Crochet and Smiley had left the area before deputies arrived.
Crochet was later located at his residence in Gray with assistance from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office and arrested without incident. He was booked on two counts of home invasion and later released on a $10,000 bond.
Smiley was later located at a business in Lafourche Parish and taken into custody with assistance from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. She was booked on domestic abuse battery, two counts of home invasion, and multiple outstanding failure-to-appear warrants. Smiley was later released on a $15,000 bond.
The identities of the victims are not being released.
Sheriff Soignet thanked members of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for their work in the investigation and for safely locating both suspects.
