PATTERSON, La. — A 61-year-old Patterson man was arrested Tuesday following a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigation that led to the seizure of drugs, cash and a firearm.
According to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jerry Charles Jr., 61, of Patterson, was arrested on September 2, 2026, at approximately 11:48 a.m.
SMPSO Narcotics detectives had been investigating the alleged sale of illegal narcotics and obtained an arrest warrant for Charles, along with a search warrant for a residence on Mike Drive in Patterson.
Detectives executed the search warrant on September 2. During the search, investigators reported seizing a pistol, approximately $2,600 in cash, drug paraphernalia, 1.78 pounds of marijuana, hydrocodone pills, approximately 300 grams of oxycodone pills, and 32.25 pounds of synthetic marijuana.
Charles was booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on charges of possession of Schedule I controlled dangerous substances with intent to distribute involving synthetic drugs and marijuana, possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substances with intent to distribute involving oxycodone, possession of drug paraphernalia, and transactions involving drug offenses.
As of the sheriff’s office release, bail had not been set.
