RACELAND, La. — Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced that detectives are actively investigating a shooting incident connected to a reported home invasion that occurred early Tuesday morning in Raceland.
Shortly after 4 a.m. on June 23, 2026, deputies responded to a residence in the 400 block of Mitchell Road following reports of a shooting and possible home invasion.
According to investigators, two armed men allegedly entered a home occupied by two friends. During the encounter, a confrontation escalated into gunfire involving multiple parties inside the residence.
One resident sustained a facial injury, while one of the suspected intruders suffered an abdominal gunshot wound. Both individuals were transported to hospitals outside the parish for treatment and are reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Search warrants have been obtained, and investigators are actively pursuing leads. Authorities are working to determine the relationship between those involved but do not believe the incident was a random act of violence.
