Victim Injured in Overnight Shooting in Morgan City

During the early morning hours of Friday, February 7, the Morgan City Police Department responded to a call from Ochsner St. Mary regarding a subject being admitted with a possible gun shot wound. Officers spoke with a patient who advised he was shot. The Morgan City Police Department Investigations Division then responded to investigate the incident.

According to reports, the victim was approached by an unknown male subject around the area of Greenwood St. near Fifth St. The victim alleged that an unknown subject approached him and demanded his belongings in a robbery attempt while brandishing a firearm. The suspect then reportedly shot the victim. The victim then fled on foot to Ochsner St. Mary to seek medical attention.

This incident is under investigation as detectives continue to gather additional information and evidence. The Morgan City Police Department is asking if anyone has any information regarding this incident to please contact the Morgan City Police investigations Division at 985-380-4605.
