O. W. “Wally” Griffin, age 68, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at his home in Patterson, Louisiana.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 8:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson before the services begin.
Born on December 8, 1954, Wally was the son of the late Fred Ray Griffin and Mary-Lou Kitchens. He was raised in Mississippi, but later moved to Patterson where he spent the majority of his adult and professional life. He was a devoted husband to his wife Ginger Griffin for 43 years and a loving father to his sons Tyler Griffin and Max Griffin and his grandchildren, Haley and Gavin Griffin.
In addition to his love for hunting, Wally had a passion for coaching sports. He coached sports for over 20 years in the Patterson community, and he was proud of the impact he had on his students’ lives. His students looked up to him and respected him greatly. He was a mentor, a coach, and a friend to his students, and he will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Wally will be remembered for his kind heart, his infectious smile, and his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community. He was a great husband and father who always put his family first. He was a man of integrity, and he lived his life with purpose and passion.
Wally is survived by his wife, Ginger Griffin; his son, Tyler Griffin (Kelly); his grandchildren, Haley and Gavin Griffin; his siblings, Gregg Griffin (Cherri) and Debbie Majure (Fred); as well as a host of extended family and friends whom he loved dearly.
Wally was preceded in death by his son, Max Tanner Griffin, and his parents, Fred Ray Griffin and Mary-Lou Kitchens; and his step-father, Harold Kitchens.
