On December 17, 2024, the Morgan City Police Department received a complaint from a mother of a child who accused Shane Phillip Wiggins of alleged inappropriate behavior with the juvenile stemming from an incident that occurred in the past few years. During the investigation, interviews with the victim and witnesses were conducted. Wiggins refused to speak with detectives after being identified as the suspect.
With victim statements and witness accounts, a warrant for Wiggins was issued by a district court judge. Detectives learned Wiggins had moved from his residence and was no longer able to be contacted by phone. Information led detectives to believe he left the state at which time officers began focusing on a search around Paris, Texas.
Detectives collaborated with deputies with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department and officers with the Paris Police Department to look for the suspect’s vehicle. The Texas officers located Wiggins driving his vehicle in Paris Texas. He was then notified of the arrest warrant and placed under arrest. Wiggins was then transported to Lamar County Corrections where he awaits court proceedings for extradition.
