Male Victim Dies in Patterson Welding Accident

Patterson Police Chief Garret Grogan tells KQKI News that a male victim sustained fatal injuries while welding under a boat Thursday morning. Grogan said his officers were dispatched at 7:45 am to a boat that was docked on Bayou Teche near Main Street in reference to an explosion that occurred while the man was welding under a boat. The victim, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The situation remains under investigation. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, Patterson and Bayou Vista Volunteer Fire Departments, Morgan City Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance and Acadian Air Med also responded to the scene.
