Larry L. Broussard passed away at the age of 82 on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at his home in Franklin.
Larry was born on October 22, 1939 in New Iberia and has been a longtime resident of Franklin. He was the second of three children born to the union of Adrien and Lucy Broussard. A veteran of the Army National Guard of Louisiana, Larry honorably served his country from October 31, 1956 until October 30, 1964. He worked for Columbian Chemical for 27 years until retiring in 2004. His favorite pastime was watching war movies and westerns. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those he leaves to cherish his memory his son, Kenneth M. “Kenny”Broussard; his sisters-in-law, Emma Del Luke Broussard, Wanda Larpenteur Kahl, and Dewey Larpenteur; brother-in-law, John Larpenteur and his wife Fran; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Ann Larpenteur Broussard, his parents, Adrien Broussard and Lucy Baudry Broussard; his brother, Alton Lawrence Broussard Sr., his sister, Judy Broussard Dantin; and his brothers-in-law, John I. Kahl Sr., Alvoid Larpenteur Sr., and David Charles Larpenteur Sr.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin. Following the service, he will be laid to rest with Military Honors in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Joel Faulk will conduct the services. Serving as pallbearers will be his son Kenny Broussard and his nephews John I. Kahl Jr., Ronald Trahan, Alton Broussard Jr., Mark Broussard, and Ethan Kahl. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews Jeffrey Broussard and Duncan Broussard.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at Ibert’s beginning at 9:00 a.m., with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 10:00 a.m., and concluding with the funeral service.
