Larry Hobbs, a devoted man of faith, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Bayou Vista Baptist Church.
Born with a generous spirit and an adventurous soul, Larry’s life was a testament to his deep commitment to both God and his fellow man. As a retired Baptist minister, Larry dedicated many years to serving congregations across the United States. His passion for ministry and his love for his community led him to help build a church in Mena, Arkansas, when he was younger. This church would stand as a lasting legacy of his devotion and contributions toward his faith. Larry’s life was marked by his kindness and generosity; he never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Beyond the pulpit, Larry found joy in the open road, working as a hotshot truck driver. His truck was always stocked with supplies, not just for himself but for anyone he encountered in need during his travels. He was always ready and willing to assist other people especially in times of distress.
Larry was more than just a man of faith; he was an explorer at heart. Embracing the spirit of both Louis and Clark, he loved to travel and discover new places, a passion he carried throughout his life. His adventures, whether close to home or far away, were always guided by his strong sense of curiosity.
Larry’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. His strong faith, generosity, and love for his family will be remembered by all who were blessed to share in his journey.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Denise Hobbs; his children, Sonny Hobbs, Richard Hobbs, Larry Hobbs Jr., Joshua Hobbs and his wife Leanna, Stephen Hobbs, Samuel Hobbs and his wife Kelsey, Sallie Hobbs, Anna Hobbs Pruitt and her husband Jesse, Crystle and Bryan Burns; his grandchildren, Clayton, Chase, Delaney, Wyatt, Mia, Lilly, Sophia, Kooper, Eli; his sisters, Helen LeFleur and her husband Henry, Julie Hobbs Boyne and her husband Edward, Linda Hobbs Oakley ; as well as a host of extended family and friends whom he loved dearly.
