Jody Paul Lewis, 57, a native of Morgan City and a resident of Gibson, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at home, after a long, courageous battle with Cancer.
Jody was Born December 12, 1968, the son of Suzanne Landry and George R. Lewis.
Jody’s passion for hunting and fishing was only rivaled by his love for anything that involved being on the water. He had an unparalleled zest for life, inspiring everyone around him to chase their dreams and embrace every moment. Jody was a true testament to the idea that with determination, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. He was a heavy equipment operator, known for his incredible skills and hands-on approach to problem-solving. Jody made friends wherever he went, his joyful spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. If someone needed help, you could count on Jody to be there, ready to support them in any way he could.
He is survived by his half-brother David Lewis; half-sisters, Christie, Dawn, and Farrah; step-daughter, Ashley Carbajal; mother, Suzanne M. Landry; four step-grandchildren, Santae, Jeremiah, Max and Mieka; one step-grandson on the way; two nephews, Byron and Chase Lewis; great-nephew, Heath Lewis; other numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, one of which is Alyiha Landry, who he was known to them as “Uncle Jody.” Many other children called him Uncle Jody although he wasn’t their uncle, he loved them all.
Jody was preceded in death by his father, George R. Lewis; paternal grandparents, George and Gloria Lewis; maternal grandparents, Sidney and Hazel Landry; one brother, Kirby Lewis; one stepson, Carl Miller.
Funeral services was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Twin City Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald McCoy officiating. Visitation was held Monday, April 7, 2025, at Twin City Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Per Jody’s wishes, after services, he will be cremated.
