TERREBONNE PARISH, La. — A Houma man is facing four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder in connection with a deadly series of stabbings in the Ashland Drive area, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Tim Soignet announced that arrest warrants have been obtained for 47-year-old Kaegan Jude Solet following an extensive investigation into the September 12 incidents.
Deputies were initially called to the 200 block of Ashland Drive, where they found a juvenile suffering from apparent stab wounds. The juvenile was transported by Acadian Ambulance Service Air Med to an out-of-area hospital in critical condition.
As deputies continued investigating, four deceased victims were discovered inside two nearby residences.
Detectives began processing multiple crime scenes, collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses and gathering information about the incidents. During the investigation, Solet was identified as a person of interest, prompting an intensive search for him.
On September 13, shortly after 10 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Solet had been taken into custody.
Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, detectives later obtained warrants charging Solet with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
Authorities said Solet is currently receiving medical treatment at an out-of-area hospital for injuries investigators strongly believe were sustained during the commission of the alleged crimes.
Solet remains under continuous supervision and detention by Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies while hospitalized.
Sheriff Soignet emphasized that Solet’s eventual discharge from the hospital will not result in his release. Once medically cleared, Solet will be transported directly to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where the arrest warrants will be formally executed and he will be booked on the charges.
“Our hearts remain with the victims, their families and every member of our community who has been affected by this unimaginable tragedy,” Soignet said. “We recognize that no words can lessen the pain these families are experiencing, but we want them to know that they are not alone and that our agency remains firmly committed to pursuing justice on their behalf.”
Soignet also praised deputies and assisting agencies for their response and continued work on the case.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Detectives will continue collecting evidence, conducting interviews and working with the Terrebonne Parish District Attorney’s Office as the case moves forward.
