Jack Wendell Carline, 82, a resident of Berwick, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.

Jack was born on October 17, 1939 in Jeanerette, the son of Eunice Carline and Leona Borel Carline.

Jack was a hardworking family man, always providing for his family. He loved his family and cherished all of the family get togethers at his house; he especially loved all the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack loved people and was known by all who knew him as “Smilin Jack;” he was always there with a quick joke to tell, to anyone who was there to listen. When Jack wasn’t working for Texaco, he enjoyed being down the bayou at the camp where he was able to fish and hunt. He loved being out on the water with his son fishing for alligators. Jack was an avid sports fan and loved watching all sports, except for golf, he could never get into watching golf. He loved rooting for his beloved LSU Fighting Tigers and his New Orleans Saints.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Jay Bertin Carline of Berwick; six children, James Carline and companion Tina Billiot of Bayou Vista, Loraine Plessala and husband Donald, Jennifer Robicheaux, Rachel Carline, Wendy Carline all of Berwick, Lesley Keller and husband Joe of Patterson; 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; one sister, Jane Robicheaux and husband Nolan of New Iberia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Moses Peter Carline, Elmira Ledet, Marie Martinolich, Richard Carline, Betty Boudreaux; one son-in-law, Reuben Robicheaux.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
