Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrest:
Jeremiah Owens B/M 36 Second St. Berwick was arrested on May 30,2023 at 4:33 PM for
- DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED 2ND OFFENSE
- HIT AND RUN DRIVING
- POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA (UNDER 14 GRAMS)
- OPEN CONTAINER
- NO DRIVER’S LICENSE
On May 30,2023 at approximately 4:18 PM the Berwick Police Department received a call of a Hit and Run that occurred in the area of the Third Street. Officers responded and were given a description of the suspect vehicle. Upon arrival in the area the vehicle was located. Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Owens. While speaking with Owens he showed signs of impairment and an odor of Marijuana was detected. A search of the vehicle was conducted and Marijuana along with open alcoholic containers were located inside. Owens performed poorly on SFST tests and was placed under arrest. Owens was transported to the Berwick Police Department where he provided a breath sample of 0.000G% BAC. Samples of Owens Blood and Urine were also collected. Owens was then booked on the above charges.
Courtney Smith B/M 34 Fourth St. Berwick was arrested on May 31,2023 at 01:29 AM for
- DOMESTIC ABUSE BATTERY
On May 30,2023 at approximately 01:04 AM the Berwick Police Department received a call of a disturbance at a residence on Fourth Street. Upon arrival officers spoke with witnesses and learned that a battery was committed on a female victim during an altercation. The suspect was identified as Smith who witnesses stated left the area. Officers located Smith a short time later and spoke with him regarding the incident. During this time, Smith admitted to committing the battery on the female victim. Smith was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charge of Domestic Abuse Battery.
