Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrest:
W/M Juvenile 14 was arrested on October 19,2023 at 6:10 PM for
- WARRANT – FELONY CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
In September 2023 the Berwick Police Department received two different calls of vandalism that
occurred to a vehicle and residence with damages over $1,000.00. Through the investigation a juvenile
was developed as a suspect. Evidence was gathered linking the juvenile to the crime and warrants were
prepared for his arrest. On October 19, the juvenile turned himself in on the active warrants. Following
the booking process, the juvenile was released to a parent pending a court hearing.
W/M Juvenile 16 was arrested on October 20,2023 at 1:13 PM for
- DISTURBING THE PEACE BY FIGHTING
W/M Juvenile 17 was arrested on October 20,2023 at 1:13 PM for
- DISTURBING THE PEACE BY FIGHTING
On October 20,2023 at approximately 12:55 PM Berwick Police Department’s school resource officer was
advised of an altercation between two students that took place at one of the local schools. Upon arrival
both were identified and placed under arrest. The juveniles were transported to the Berwick Police
Department where they were booked and released to parents pending a court hearing.
Osiel Rodriguez H/M 18 of Berwick was arrested on October 20,2023 at 11:37 PM for
- POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE I THC
- NO DRIVER’S LICENSE
- IMPROPER LANE USAGE
On October 20,2023 at approximately 11:40 PM a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after several lane violations were observed on Hwy. 90. Officers met with Rodriguez and through the course of the stop, it was learned that he did not have a driver’s license. He was also found to be in possession of THC. Rodriguez was placed under arrest and released on a summons to appear in court for the above charges.
David Woods W/M 38 of Patterson was arrested on October 21, 2023 at 12:20 AM for
- ASSUMPTION PARISH WARRANT- FTA FOR SIMPLE CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
On October 21,2023 at approximately 12:13 AM a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for a traffic violation. Officers met with Woods and it was learned that he had an active warrant through the Assumption Parish Sheriffs Office. Woods was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the above charges.
Miguel Flores H/M 32 of Lake Charles was arrested on October 21, 2023 at 02:06 AM for
- DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED FIRST OFFENSE
- IMPROPER LANE USAGE
On October 21,2023 at approximately 01:55 AM a vehicle was observed making a lane violation on Hwy. 182. A traffic stop was conducted and officers made contact with Flores. While speaking with Flores he showed signs of impairment. SFST tests were conducted which he performed poorly on and was placed under arrest. Flores was transported to the Berwick Police Department where he submitted a breath sample of 0.125G% BAC. Flores was then booked on the above charges.
Deandre Varnado B/M 30 of Arlington TX was arrested on October 21, 2023 at 02:36 AM for
- POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE I CDS MARIJUANA (UNDER 14 GRAMS)
- POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
On October 21,2023 at approximately 02:20 AM a vehicle was observed with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and officers made contact with Varnado. During the course of the stop, an odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted at which time a small amount of Marijuana was located along with items of paraphernalia. Varnado was placed under arrest and released on a summons to appear in court for the above charges.
Christopher Rice W/M 32 of Houma was arrested on October 21,2023 at 03:06 AM for
- POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE I CDS MARIJUANA (UNDER 14 GRAMS)
- IMPROPER LANE USAGE
On October 21,2023 at approximately 02:57 AM a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after it was observed to make a lane violation on US Hwy. 90. Officers met with Rice and an odor of Marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted at which time Marijuana was located. Rice was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court for the above charges.
Robert White B/M 46 of Houma was arrested on October 22, 2023 at 01:33 AM for
- POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE I CDS MARIJUANA (UNDER 14 GRAMS)
- POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
- IMPROPER LANE USAGE
On October 22, 2023 at approximately 01:16 AM a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after a lane violation was observed on Hwy. 90. Officers made contact with White and an odor of Marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted where Marijuana and items of Paraphernalia were located. White was placed under arrest and released on a summons to appear in court on the above charges.
Christian Espinosa H/M 31 of Morgan City was arrested on October 22,2023 at 02:40 AM for
- DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED 1ST OFFENSE
On October 22, 2023 at approximately 02:29 AM a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after it was observed to commit several traffic violations. During the course of the stop, impairment was detected. SFST tests were conducted which he performed poorly on. Espinosa was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he submitted a breath sample of 0.117G% BAC. Espinosa was booked on the charge of Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense and issued a citation for the traffic violations.
Irvin Celestine III B/M 22 of Morgan City was arrested on October 23, 2023 at 01:05 AM for
- LAFOURCHE PARISH WARRANT
On October 23,2023 at approximately 12:50 AM a traffic stop was conducted and officers made contact with Celestine. Through the course of the stop, it was learned that Celestine had active warrants through the Lafourche Parish Sheriffs Office. Celestine was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department.
