BATON ROUGE, La. — A South Carolina man has been arrested following an investigation by Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation into child sexual abuse material allegedly uploaded while the suspect was living in Patterson.
Authorities say Special Agents received multiple cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in August 2023 indicating 23-year-old Gabriel Alpha allegedly uploaded child sexual abuse material while residing in St. Mary Parish.
Investigators later secured an arrest warrant, and on April 23, Alpha was located in Newberry County, South Carolina, taken into custody, and booked into the Newberry County Detention Center pending extradition to St. Mary Parish.
He faces five counts related to child sexual abuse material under Louisiana law.
Officials say several agencies assisted in the case, including the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Fugitive Apprehension Unit, Newberry County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division Fugitive Unit, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, Morgan City Police Department, and Patterson Police Department.
The investigation remains ongoing.
