FRANKLIN, La. — Residents of St. Mary Parish will have an opportunity to get answers to their insurance questions this week as the Louisiana Department of Insurance hosts a two-day outreach event in Franklin.

The department’s team will be on hand Wednesday, April 22, and Thursday, April 23, to meet one-on-one with residents and provide guidance on a range of insurance-related topics. These include filing claims, shopping for better rates, understanding home and auto coverage, fortified roofs, senior healthcare, and how to prevent fraud.

Daytime “pop-up office” hours for individual assistance will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. In addition, a town hall-style meeting will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple and offering a group setting for questions and discussion.

All events will take place at the Teche Theatre for the Performing Arts, located at 501 Main Street in Franklin.

Officials encourage attendees to bring copies of their insurance policies — not just the declarations page — along with any other relevant documents to help staff better address their concerns.

he outreach effort is part of the department’s ongoing initiative to connect directly with communities and provide support on insurance issues impacting Louisiana residents.
