NAPOLEONVILLE, La. — Leland Falcon, sheriff of Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, reports the arrest of a Plattenville woman accused of abusing a special needs child following an investigation at a local educational facility.
According to authorities, deputies responded to a complaint on March 11, 2026, at a facility serving children with special needs in Assumption Parish. Staff members reported that a non-verbal child had noticeable injuries and that additional concerning conditions were observed.
Detectives launched an investigation and determined the injuries had allegedly been inflicted by a relative of the child. Investigators say the child was beaten with a phone charger cord, causing the injuries that prompted the report.
Following the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Blessing Joshua Wynn, 34, of Plattenville.
Wynn was taken into custody Wednesday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on one count of cruelty to the infirmed. She remains jailed pending a bond hearing.
The Sheriff’s Office also notified the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, which will assist with the case and any child welfare proceedings.
