Tara Teche Henry, age 48, was called home to her Jesus at 10:58 PM Sunday, May 18, 2025, at her home in Bayou Vista surrounded in love.
Tara was born in Franklin on January 21, 1977, the eldest of three children born to Sheila Telano and Darryl Henry. From the first day of her life, Tara brought joy and love to everyone in her life. She never met a stranger, gave anyone and everyone a great big hug, and could be just as stubborn as she was loving. To say she was determined and strong-willed is an understatement. She could’ve been the spokesperson for Dr. Pepper and loved getting phone calls form everyone she knew. She had a love for babies and was considered an honorary aunt to many. She had a passion for traveling, singing in church, especially Silent Night, and never stopped waking up at 4:00 AM on Christmas morning to see what HoHoHo left her.
Tara is survived by her mother, Sheila Telano; her father Darryl Henry; her sister, Mary H. “Missy” Soileau and her husband Stevie; her brother, Al Henry; her nieces and nephews, Megan, Zane, Zackery, Zephan, Allie, and Emma Soileau; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, church family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Willie Telano and Mary Buck Telano; her paternal grandfather, Virgil “Red” Henry; and her paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Ruth Fleming Henry Head and John Head.
The family requests visiting hours be observed at Bayou Vista Baptist Church, 411 Field Street, Morgan City, LA, on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again Friday morning from 9:00 AM until time of funeral services at 11:00 AM. with Rev. Steve Spurlin officiating. Following the funeral service, Tara will be laid to rest in Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery in Patterson.
Since Tara’s favorite color was red, all are asked to wear something red in her honor.
