A rider who fell from a float in the Patterson Christmas Parade has been flown to an out of town hospital to be treated for their injuries. There was a brief delay in the parade not long after it began as units from the Patterson Volunteer Fire Department, which were at the front of the parade, left to respond to the incident which occurred towards the end of the lineup.
Although the information is preliminary, KQKI News has learned a rider had fallen from one of the last floats in the lineup. First responders remained on the scene as the parade resumed. Acadian Air Med attempted to land in an empty field near the intersection of Main and St. Peter Streets, but the landing zone was moved to the parking lot of Bethel Pentecostal Fellowship just off Highway 90 in Patterson, where an Acadian Ambulance ground unit transported the patient to intercept with Air Med. The victim was then transported to an out of town hospital.
No other information has been released, including the victim’s identity or condition. You may watch our live report from the scene below, as well as video footage of Air Med departing Bethel Pentecostal Fellowship with the victim.
