Man Medevaced from Offshore Supply Vessel near Port Fourchon

New Orleans, LA. – In a recent incident, the Coast Guard successfully carried out a medevac operation for a 71-year-old man on an offshore supply vessel about 100 miles southwest of Port Fourchon, Louisiana. The rescue mission was initiated after Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call early Thursday morning from the ship’s captain. He requested immediate assistance to evacuate a passenger suffering from low blood pressure and dizziness.

Upon receiving the request, the watchstanders coordinated with Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to send an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew to the scene. The rescuers hoisted the distressed man onto the helicopter and transported him safely to the University Medical Center in New Orleans, where he was handed over to emergency medical services personnel. The latest reports confirmed that his condition was stable.
