The Morgan City Police Department has arrested a 23-year-old man on first degree rape and other charges.
The Department said detectives began an investigation on December 4, 2023 regarding conduct of a sexual nature with a juvenile, when according to reports, Jiguan Eelmer of First Street in Morgan City was identified as a subject involved in the investigation.
According to police, Eelmer was involved in sexual activity inolving a juvenile victim.
Warrants were prepared for Eelmer’s arrest on January 11, 2023, and the man was located and arrested on the active warrant. He was transported to the Morgan City Jail on charges of first degree rape, sexual battery, and indecent behavior with juveniles.
Eelmer was awaiting court proceedings as of Thursday morning.
