Robert “Bob” J. Scully Sr., a native and lifelong resident of Stephensville, was called to his heavenly home on Monday, August 19, 2024 at the age of 80.
Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence could light up any room. He had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met, never missing a chance for a warm hug if the opportunity arose. Known for his straightforward honesty, Bob’s unfiltered advice was always appreciated by those around him.
He led a rich and varied life, indulging in passions like golf, horseshoes, and other sports. As an exceptional cook, Bob was celebrated for his renowned pot of white beans and his skill in boiling seafood. His culinary talents were a key reason why so many were drawn to his restaurant, Scully’s Seafood. Yet, above all his achievements, Bob cherished the moments spent gathering with family for a seafood boil, whether at his home or a beloved sibling’s.
Those left cherish Bob’s beautiful memory is his wife of 11 years, Susan Olivier Scully of Stephensville; five children, Robert “Bert” James Scully Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Berwick, Steve Michael Scully Sr. of Morgan City, Sherie “Free” Scully Giroir and her husband, Ronald, of Stephensville, Bridget Scully of Morgan City, and Bobbie Jo Dupuy and her husband, Dwayne, of Berwick; 12 grandchildren, Tiffani, Brittany, Robert “Robbie” III, Emily, Steve Jr., Steward, Shaina, Ronald “Ronnie” Jr., Mary, Lillian “Lilly”, Ava, and Zoie; and 14 great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by five siblings, Raymond Scully, Ann Racca, Wayne Scully, Judy Scully Solar, and Kenny Scully.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Joyce Scully and four siblings, Ronald Scully, Danny Scully, Betty Malone, Cheryl Miller.
The family requests that a memorial time of visitation and remembrance be observed on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 4:30pm until 8:00pm with a celebration of Bob’s life being held at 7:00pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, graveside services will be held privately by the family at a later date.
