Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests:
Dallas Kirkland 26 Todd Ln. Morgan City was arrested on November 17, 2021 at 12:51 AM for:
- POSSESSION OF SCH. I CDS HEROIN
- POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
- SPEEDING 75/55
- DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION
- NO INSURANCE
On November 17,2021 an officer conducting stationary radar in the area of US Hwy. 90 observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was indicated to be 75 MPH where the posted speed limit in that area is 55 MPH. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and officers made contact with Kirkland. During the course of the stop, Kirkland showed signs of nervousness and an odor of Marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted at which time officers located a bag of Heroin in Kirkland’s wallet. Also, in the vehicle officers located several items of drug paraphernalia. A computer check showed that Kirkland’s driver’s license was suspended and the vehicle did not have an active insurance policy. Kirkland was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where she was booked on the charges of Possession of Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Speeding 75/55, Driving Under Suspension, and No Insurance.
