Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported the arrest of Tyren Authement, a 21-year-old Houma man, in connection with a shooting that took place in Raceland on Saturday. He was apprehended in St. Mary Parish on Tuesday. Deputies initially responded to the shooting on July 15, 2023, at around 2 a.m. in the 1600 block of LA Highway 182. One man sustained a minor facial wound during the incident, with no other injuries reported.
Authement was identified as the suspected shooter through an investigation. Detectives got a warrant for his arrest and sought help from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office in finding him. On July 18, Lafourche and Terrebonne investigators tracked Authement down in St. Mary Parish, where local authorities assisted with his arrest.
During a traffic stop, deputies found firearms, drugs, and cash in Authement’s vehicle following a search warrant. He was charged with multiple offenses, including illegal possession of a stolen firearm and drug-related charges. There is currently no bond set for these charges.
Awaiting transfer to Lafourche Parish, Authement will face additional charges of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, with bail set at $1.1 million. Sheriff Webre expressed gratitude to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for their help in capturing the suspect.
