In a statement from Sheriff Bobby Webre, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office has taken 21-year-old Malik Fowler of Gonzales into custody. Fowler is being linked to the deadly shooting that occurred on October 27th, in Donaldsonville. He faces charges of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, simple criminal damage to property, and disturbing the peace. The deceased has been identified as Tyree Parker, also aged 21, from Donaldsonville. Another person injured during the incident is still in the hospital with life-threatening wounds.
On the evening of October 27th, deputies were quick to react to gunfire reports near Clay Street and Lee Street’s intersection in Donaldsonville around 8:30 p.m. Upon reaching there, they discovered two male victims grasping for life after sustaining several gunshot injuries. Deputies immediately provided lifesaving aid and awaited emergency medical personnel. Meanwhile, they spotted a man suspected to be the shooter attempting to escape the scene and managed to apprehend him for questioning. Tragically, Tyree Parker later died while being treated at a nearby hospital.
While investigating the case, detectives identified Malik Fowler as their suspect being held in custody. Furthermore, investigators received information that confirmed Fowler’s involvement in the shooting. Detectives learned that he knew both victims and had gotten into an altercation before firing those lethal shots. Authorities executed an arrest warrant, and Fowler has been sent to Ascension Parish Jail. The investigation continues, so more information may be disclosed later on cautiously basis
