REPORTS: Shots Fired at Patterson vs. Donaldsonville Football Game in Donaldsonville

UPDATE: According to WAFB TV in Baton Rouge,  the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office states that one person has died from their injures sustained from the shooting and another man is in critical condition.

Sheriff Bobby Webre stated that the two men were not students at the school.

The Ascension Parish School Board stated that the shooting took place near Floyd Boutte Stadium where Donaldsonville High was playing Patterson High for their homecoming game.

APSO stated that the shooting did not take place inside the stadium. Sheriff Bobby Webre said the shooting happened around 8:20 p.m. and a block away from the stadium.

As paramedics worked to treat the wounded, authorities were clearing people out of the stadium.

Sheriff Webre states that they have a person of interest in custody.

UPDATE:  The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is reporting that the shooting happened near the stadium and not inside the stadium itself.

UPDATE: St. Mary Parish Schools has released the following statement:

”St. Mary Parish School Officials are aware of an incident that occurred this evening at the Patterson High versus Donaldsonville away game at Donaldsonville High. While no specific facts are currently known, we have had direct contact with school representatives at the game, and all students and visitors are safe.
Students and School officials are returning home at this time by school transportation. More information will be given as we are made aware of details regarding this situation. We want to stress that all students are safe and returning home. Please do not go to Donaldsonville. Students are being returned to Patterson High School safely.”

KQKI News is receiving multiple reports that shots have been fired at the Patterson vs. Donaldsonville game in Donaldsonville. Our reports are coming from witnesses at the game as well as a report from WAFB TV in Baton Rouge which says two people have been injured and Acadian Air Med is en route. We will update the story once more information becomes available.
