PAINCOURTVILLE – 34-year-old Ray Jovan Robertson from Franklin has been arrested by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on numerous felony charges following a Sunday evening incident where he allegedly brandished a firearm on Daggs Street in Paincourtville.
On the same day, patrol deputies were called to a home after reports of a neighbor pulling out a gun and threatening to use it. Deputies identified the suspect as Roy Jovan Robertson and tried to find him at a nearby house. Although they made contact with Robertson, he refused to leave the house and went back inside.
Eventually, Roy Jovan Robertson surrendered and was taken into custody by the deputies. He was then transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and later sent to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Early Monday morning, Robertson was charged at the Assumption Parish Detention Center with:
– Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
– Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
– Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
– Simple Criminal Damage to Property
– Battery of a Police Officer
– Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
– Resisting an Officer
During their investigation, deputies executed a search warrant at the involved residence and confiscated an amount of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
As a previously convicted felon, Ray Jovan Robertson was prohibited from owning a firearm legally. At the time of his arrest, Robertson was on probation for his prior felony conviction.
He currently remains in custody awaiting a bond hearing.
