FOUR CORNERS, La. — A Jeanerette man has been arrested in connection with a shooting Monday morning in the Four Corners area.
According to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Highway 318 at approximately 11 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2026, following reports of gunfire.
When deputies arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to a local medical facility for treatment of an injury described as non-life-threatening.
Detectives immediately began investigating the shooting and, after collecting and reviewing evidence from the scene, identified 38-year-old Deondrea Johnson of Jeanerette as a suspect.
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson and later located and took him into custody. Johnson was booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on charges of aggravated battery and illegal use of weapons.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say additional charges are pending.
