Qualifying for the November 3, 2026 election ended on Friday, August 7. Voters are expected to see a fairly long ballot as there will be several federal and local races to be decided.  You may see the full list of those who qualified below.

The ballot will include federal races for U.S. Senator and Congress. On the local level, there are mayoral races in Baldwin, Berwick and Patterson, as well as council races in Berwick and Patterson and Aldermen in Baldwin. There are also races to be decided in three St. Mary Parish School Board districts, while eight other members qualified without opposition. Several races for Justice of the Peace and Constable will also be on the November ballot.

16th Judicial District Attorney Michael Haik was elected to a full six-year term term as no other candidates qualified to run against him.  All incumbent judges in the 16th Judicial District were elected without opposition with two newcomers elected to the bench, including Theadore M. “Trey” Haik III who will replace the retiring Judge Lewis Pitman.  Renee Montegut Louiviere will fill the seat of Judge Keith Comeaux, who is also retiring at the end of his term.

Two incumbent Chiefs of Police in St. Mary Parish were elected without opposition, including Baldwin Police Chief Anthony Gibson and Patterson Police Chief Garrett Grogan.

Shortly after qualifying closed on Friday afternoon, Gibson called KQKI News to thank God, his family and the community for their support for another four-year term.

Grogan also released a statement over the weekend and said, “To the citizens of Patterson, I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for allowing me the honor and privilege of serving as your Chief of Police over the past four years.”

In Assumption Parish, voters will  decide on races for two judicial seats, school board, Justice of the Peace and Aldermen in Napoleonville.
