CHAUVIN, La. — A Raceland man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Chauvin resident last month, according to Louisiana State Police Troop C.
Troopers say 21-year-old Michael Boudreaux turned himself in on Thursday, April 9, 2026, after an arrest warrant was issued through the 32nd Judicial District Court. He was booked into the Terrebonne Criminal Justice Complex.
Boudreaux is charged with Vehicular Homicide, DWI (First Offense), Reckless Operation, No Seatbelt, and Driving Under Suspension.
Investigators say toxicology results revealed Boudreaux’s blood alcohol content was over the legal limit at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
The crash occurred on March 25, 2026, shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 56 near Josie Court in Terrebonne Parish.
According to troopers, a 2006 Pontiac G6 was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when it failed to slow down and struck the rear of a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado driven by 58-year-old Aljean Ledet of Chauvin.
Following the impact, the Chevrolet exited the roadway and overturned.
Ledet, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Boudreaux, who was also unrestrained, suffered serious injuries and was transported to an out-of-area hospital.
State Police continue to emphasize the importance of responsible driving, urging motorists to avoid impairment, distractions, and fatigue while behind the wheel.
Officials also stress that wearing a seatbelt remains one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injury or death in a crash.
