Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet has announced the arrest of a Belle Rose woman following an investigation conducted by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit (SVU).
SVU Detectives arrested Emma Katherine Prejean, 29, of Belle Rose, in connection with allegations involving inappropriate communications with a juvenile.

In February 2026, SVU Detectives launched an investigation after receiving allegations that a juvenile had engaged in inappropriate communications with an adult female believed to be 29 years old.
Detectives met with the victim and a family member, who provided documentation of the communications. During interviews, the victim positively identified Prejean as the suspect.

Authorities also secured digital evidence linking Prejean to the allegations. Investigators further learned of a recent meeting between the two individuals that allegedly led to physical interaction. An independent witness familiar with the situation corroborated portions of the investigation.

On February 24, 2026, SVU Detectives made contact with Prejean, who voluntarily came in for questioning.
During the interview, Prejean admitted to inappropriate interactions with the minor, according to authorities. She was subsequently arrested and charged with:
Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile
Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Minor

Prejean was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex and is currently being held on a No Bond status set by local judges.

During the course of the investigation, detectives confirmed that Prejean was employed as a teacher within the St. Charles Parish School System. Officials with St. Charles Parish have been notified, and information has been shared in the interest of public safety.

Sheriff Tim Soignet stated the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
“As always, we ask for patience and privacy for the victims and family. Our Detectives are working diligently to bring this case to resolution and hold this offender accountable for her actions,” said Sheriff Soignet.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
