ST. MARY PARISH, La. — A Morgan City man has been found guilty by a St. Mary Parish jury after leading law enforcement on a dangerous high-speed pursuit through city streets.
According to the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, a jury on July 22, 2026, unanimously convicted Tyler Paul Rogers, 31, of Morgan City, of Aggravated Flight from an Officer Where Human Life is Endangered and Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce.
Prosecutors said the case stemmed from an incident in which Rogers fled from officers after being spotted by the Morgan City Police Department running a stop sign while exiting U.S. Highway 90. During the pursuit, authorities said Rogers reached speeds of up to 80 mph on city streets, forcing other motorists off the roadway as he attempted to evade police.
Following his arrest, investigators learned Rogers also had multiple outstanding warrants for failure to appear.
Sentencing is scheduled for August 19, 2026, before Judge John E. Conery, pro tempore. Rogers faces up to 10 years at hard labor for aggravated flight from an officer and up to 15 years, with or without hard labor, for aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Mason Hebert and investigated by the Berwick Police Department and the Morgan City Police Department
