One Charged in Shooting Investigation Two Others Charged with Interfering with Law Enforcement

On July 3, 2025, Officers patrolling the City of Jeanerette observed a black male identified as Brian Schexnayder, walking in the 1900 block of Main Street.

Mr. Schexnayder is currently wanted by the Jeanerette Police Department for felony narcotics following a shooting investigation that occurred earlier last month.

Mr. Schexnayder fled from officers into a residence as he was subdued and placed under arrest. Officers suspected that Mr. Schexnayder hid the firearm inside of the residence. The residence was secured as a search warrant was obtained. Upon executing the search warrant, investigators located more narcotics and firearms. Mr. Schexnayder was additionally charged with the following:

Distribution / Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule I, Illegal use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities. He was additional charged with Distribution or Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule I, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Resisting an Officer, and Violation of Uniform Control Substance

Other suspects were arrested during the investigation, due to separate offenses committed while investigators were securing the crime scene. Those individuals were identified and charged as such:

Arlous Frederick, 37, Main St., Jeanerette, La was arrested for Simple Assault, Resisting An Officer, Public Intimidation and Retaliation, Interfering with a Law Enforcement Investigation, Battery of a Police Officer. He was transported to Iberia Parish Jail.

Brian Lively, 38, Church St., Jeanerette, La was arrested for Interfering with a Law Enforcement Officer, and Resisting An Officer. Bond has been set at $5,000.00.
