Jody Vaccarella, age 64, a man of boundless generosity, unwavering dedication, and an enormous heart, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Born to live for his family, Jody was a beacon of love and laughter, enriching the lives of those around him with his remarkable character and infectious sense of humor.
A hard worker and devoted provider, Jody exemplified what it meant to be an amazing father, husband, and grandfather. Affectionately known as “Popdaddy” by his beloved grandchildren, he relished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be cherished forever. His legacy of love and care will live on through his family, who adored him beyond measure.
An avid hunter and fisher, Jody’s adventurous spirit took him on many thrilling escapades, including surviving a plane crash on his way back from hunting grizzly bears in Alaska. Recently, he discovered a new passion for pickleball, embracing the sport with the same enthusiasm he brought to all his hobbies. He also enjoyed playing golf and was a fitness enthusiast, dedicating himself to staying active and healthy.
Jody’s generosity knew no bounds—he was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. His amazing sense of humor, penchant for pranks, and joyful competitiveness made everyone around him smile and laugh. A great friend to many, Jody had an uncanny ability to form deep connections wherever he went. He was always there for his family and friends, dependable and loving to the core.
A proud coach of little league baseball at one point, Jody enjoyed mentoring and inspiring young athletes. He was also an incredible brother, always supporting his siblings with unwavering loyalty and love.
Jody’s life was a testament to the power of family, friendship, and fun. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. His spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know him. Jody Vaccarella will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever radiate the warmth and joy he brought into this world.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jody Vaccarella on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Church of the Assumption Catholic Church in Franklin, LA. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 2:30 PM. The Mass will commence at 3:00 PM, officiated by Father Michael DeBlanc. Following the Mass graveside services will be held in Perpetual Park Cemetery.
Jody is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Janet Fouquier Vaccarella; his two children, Jaci Vaccarella Myers and her husband Ben, Jamon Joseph Vaccarella and his wife Mia Lorenzo Vaccarella; his five grandchildren, Lucas Myers, Lola Myers, Ladd Myers, Owen Vaccarella, Cooper Vaccarella; his siblings, Michael Vaccarella and his wife Maxine, Tana Vaccarella, Frankie Vaccarella and his wife Ruda, Dana Vaccarella and his wife Nicole; his brothers-in-law, Homer Fouquier and his wife Ann, Kevin Fouquier and his wife Christine as well as a host of extended family and friends whom he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam Jr. and Rosemary Vaccarella; his parents-in-law, Homer Sr. and Louise Fouquier; his brother, Sammy Vaccarella III and his wife Lorraine.
