Morgan City Police Investigating Shooting On Fifth Street

Morgan City Police apprehended two suspects and are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Fifth Street near Freret Street on May 15, 2024.

At approximately 3:06 p.m., officers responded to calls reporting gunfire in the area. They quickly identified a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident. When an officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled the scene, prompting a brief pursuit. The suspect was soon stopped and taken into custody on Sixth Street near Clothilde Street.

Further investigation led officers from the Morgan City Police Department’s Detectives Division and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office to a residence on Fifth Street, where the shooting had occurred. An additional suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as more information becomes available.
