Patterson’s Kemper Williams Park hosted the exciting Doubles for Dollars Horseshoe Tournament on September 23, 2023. The contest followed a blind draw, handicap, and count all format. Competitors formed teams across two classes: Blue and Black.
In Class Blue, the first-place winning team consisted of Hewitt Gautreaux from Pierre Part and Danny Navarre from Carlyiss, achieving a remarkable record of 5 wins and 1 loss with a 31.9% team ringer percentage. The second-place position was secured by Berwick’s Al Graham and Morgan City’s Al Dodson with a 4-2 win/loss ratio and 21.9% team ringer percentage. Glenn Caillouet from Raceland and Wanda Lantz from Marrero came in third place with a 3-2 win/loss record and 28.6% team ringer percentage.
Class Black brought more excitement with Julius Lovell from Bayou Lourse and Burnie Williams from Morgan City clinching first place (5-1 win/loss, 35.7% team ringer percentage). Tiffany Thomas of Port Allen and Jimmy Percle of Morgan City took home second place (4-2 win/loss, 21.7% team ringer percentage), while Roosevelt Morse from Shreveport and Neil Whitney from Waggaman earned third place (3-2 win/loss, 15.2% team ringer percentage).
Following the tournament’s conclusion, first-place winners in each bracket squared off for the Tournament Championship title and a lucrative cash prize. Meanwhile, second-place teams competed against each other for third and fourth positions.
Julius Lovell and Burnie Williams emerged as Tournament Champions landing in the first place. Hewitt Gautreaux and Danny Navarre claimed second place, followed by Tiffany Thomas and Jimmy Percle as third place winners. Al Graham and Al Dodson rounded up the competition, securing fourth place in the standings.
