The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced a crucial project starting on Monday, August 21, to replace a damaged cross drain on La. 70 in Morgan City, St. Mary Parish. The replacement work will take place between the intersections of La. 70 with Robin Street and Fig Street.

The upcoming project involves removing the old cross drain pipe and installing a new one. It will also include backfilling, laying new asphalt, and other related tasks. During the project, La. 70 will remain open to regular traffic but will operate as alternating one-lane traffic from the intersection of Robin Street to 0.29 miles southwest of Fig Street, using portable traffic signals.

Moreover, a 10-foot width restriction will be enforced in the area. Emergency vehicles will have access to the region; however, they should anticipate encountering delays. The cross drain replacement project is expected to be completed by September 20, 2023.
