Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests in joint investigation in Burglary Ring:
Lennis R. Paray, 37 years old, of Fourth St. Berwick, was arrested on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 6:18PM, on the following charge:
Berwick PD Warrant: Violation of Protective Orders
On November 12, 2021, at 6:18PM, Paray was located at a residence on Second St. and he was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. The warrant stems from an investigation that took place on November 6, 2021, in which Paray was at a residence that he was prohibited to be at due to the active protective order. Paray was gone prior to the officer’s arrival, therefore, a warrant was prepared for his arrest. Paray was booked into the Berwick Jail then later transferred to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center where he remains with no bond set.
Quitin M. Nerve, 38 years old, of Cleveland St. Patterson, was arrested on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 10:42AM, on the following charges:
DWI First Offense
Possession of Marijuana
Careless Operation w/Crash
On November 13, 2021, at 9:36AM, officers were dispatched to US Hwy 90E near Thorguson Dr. in reference to a three vehicle crash. During the crash investigation, Nerve was identified as one of the drivers involved. Nerve exhibited signs of impairment on narcotics and he subsequently poorly on the standardized field sobriety tests. He was placed under arrest and he submitted a proper sample of .000g%BAC on the breath test. A blood and urine sample was collected at a local hospital and the results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Nerve was booked into the Berwick Jail where he remains with a $5,000.00 bond.
Nicholas W. Grimmett, 40 years old, of South Verrett St. Morgan City, was arrest on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 2:13AM, on the following charge:
16th JDC Warrant FTA for Sentencing Hearing; Original Charge of Expired License Plate
On November 14, 2021, officers responded to a call of Grimmett causing a disturbance at a local lounge and he was refusing to leave. Grimmett was gone prior to the officer’s arrival. About 2 hours later, another call was received advising that he was back at the lounge and he was refusing to leave. Officers arrived on scene and located him outside. He was found to have an active warrant through the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Grimmett was placed under arrest and booked into the Berwick Jail where he later posted a bond of $265.00.
