Winners Announced for Louisiana State Games Horseshoe Tournament

The Louisiana State Games Horseshoe Tournament, sponsored by Monroe-West Monroe CVB, took place at Kemper Williams Park in Patterson on July 15, 2023. The event featured several categories and showcased talented players from across the state.

Elders B Winners

In the Class A Elders group, Tim Gilmore from Bayou Vista secured the first place with a 5-1 record and a 55.0% ringer rate. The second and third places went to Burnie Williams from Morgan City and Clyde Landry from Pierre Part, respectively. Gilmore had to defeat Williams in a thrilling 40-shoe playoff game to claim the top spot.

For Elders B, Karl Vaughn from Morgan City emerged victorious with a perfect 5-0 score and a 29.4% ringer rate. Charles Benoit of Lake Arthur and Al Graham of Berwick came in second and third, respectively.

Cadets Category Winners

Class Women’s A Winners

The Cadets category saw Charlee Gilmore from Broussard take the gold with a flawless 4-0 run and a 10.0% ringer rate. Daisy Guillot and Libby Guillot, both from Bayou Vista, secured second and third places.

In Women A, Wanda Lantz and Patricia Pertuit from Marrero tied in points with Lantz claiming first place due to their ringer percentage. Mary Begnaud of Lacassine completed the top three.

The Men’s 40-A category had Jim Guzdial of Patterson finishing first with a 4-1 score and a 16.3% ringer rate. Tyler Bourdier also from Patterson came in second, with Glenn Caillouet of Raceland taking third place.

Finally, in Men’s 40-B, Ricky Pitre of Chauvin claimed victory with a similar win-loss rate as Guzdial but with a slightly lower 5.6% ringer rate. Joe Primeaux of Broussard and Kevin Kinslow of Morgan City snatched the second and third positions.
