William H. Dupuy Sr., a lifelong resident of Patterson, passed away at the age of 91 on Monday, December 13, 2021, at Ochsner St. Mary with family by his side. He was born in Patterson on March 8, 1930 and was the fifth of 11 children born to the union of Homer and Flavia Dupuy.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, William was truly a family man through and through. He had a love of fishing and enjoyed woodworking as well as growing a garden, even converting his Toyota pickup to a flatbed with a mobile garden. He also loved to pick, especially with his grandkids, who affectionately called him Paw Paw Pick. Another favorite pastime was watching the sugarcane farmers during harvest time. You could bet if cane was being cut and hauled from the fields he was close by. He leaves a legacy of love of family and the simple things in life. He will truly be missed.
Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his eight children, Brenda Landry and her husband Ronnie, Sherry LaCoste and her husband Jared, William “Billy” Dupuy Jr., Patty Arnold and her husband Kerry, Gordon Dupuy and his wife Debra, Madeline Pisani, Frances Adcock and her husband Steve, and Tabitha Hearndon and her husband Thomas; his longtime companion, Debra Roy; 16 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; his sisters, Ann Francis and Lynn Rogers; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Sanders Dupuy; daughter-in-law, Georgia Dupuy; son-in-law, Grant Pisani; grandson, William Dupuy III; great grandsons, Joseph Ganaway and Tailyn Ribardi; his parents, Homer Dupuy and Flavia Landry Dupuy; and siblings, Jimmy, George, Ulysse, Homer, Louis, and Jerry Dupuy, Flavia “Pat” Broussard, and Bernadette Duhon.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 17, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson. Following the service he will be laid to rest in Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Serving as pallbearers will be Jared LaCoste Jr., Cade Duhon, Keegan Cronier, Wesley Landry, Danny Wade Jr., and Grant Pisani Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Meador and Paul Michael Lipari.
