January 6th, 2024: At around 1:30 AM, the Houma Police Department was called to a shooting incident at Thirsty Thirty Sports Bar, located in the 1300 block of Barataria Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered that the victim, Marvin Reed, a 39-year-old from Carondolet, AL, had tragically passed away due to numerous gunshot wounds.
Investigations unfolded that Christopher Boutwell, also aged 39 and hailing from Theodore, Alabama, was an acquaintance of the deceased. The two were reportedly socializing at the bar when a physical altercation broke out between them. Following this fight, Boutwell is said to have gone to his vehicle to obtain a firearm before shooting Reed multiple times and then fleeing the scene.
However, Boutwell’s attempts to escape justice were thwarted as patrolling officers managed to locate and apprehend him without any further incidents. He was subsequently arrested and taken to Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex where he faces one count of Second-Degree Murder.
Although the investigation is ongoing, more information may be disclosed at a later date. The Houma Police Department is urging anyone with relevant knowledge to come forward by calling them at 985-873-6371.
