Martha Thomas Comeaux, affectionately known as Marttie, passed away at the age of 72 on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, just one week shy of her 73rd birthday.

Marttie was born on January 15, 1949 in Alma, Georgia and was the eldest of five children born to the union of Marlon and Mable Thomas. She was a former longtime resident of Franklin and has resided in Milton for the past six years. Marttie was a loving, talented, giving, and strong woman who loved her family deeply. She worked for many years as a master cosmetologist and was also a trained herbalist. Embracing her Native American heritage, Marttie was a proud sundancer and enjoyed doing bead work and making regalia. Some of her favorite pastimes included tending to her plants, spending time with those she loved, and especially Sunday drives with her husband through the beautiful back roads of Cajun Country. She will be missed beyond measure by all who were fortunate to have known her.

Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her husband of nearly 30 years, Brian Bolner; her daughters, Dee Benton and Angela Comeaux; her grandchildren, Gregg Johnson, Katie Johnson, Elijah Comeaux, and Gage Lala; her three great granddaughters; her brother, Willis Thomas and his wife Jocelyn; her sister, Wanda Thomas; her sister, Debra Knowlton; her former husband, Milton Comeaux; as well as a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Maggie Comeaux Hebert; her parents, Marlon Elijah Thomas and Mable Mercer Thomas; and her sister, Cathy T. Jones.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 12:00 noon at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin, with Bro. Tony Ronsonet conducting the service. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m.
