Marguerite Theresa Caprito was born on July 30, 1932 in Franklin, LA, the eldest of two children born to the late Joseph Caprito and the late Jennie Neil Caprito. Marguerite passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, just days shy of her 91st birthday.
Marguerite did not sugar coat anything she said, however she always told you what she needed to hear, not what you wanted to hear. That being said, she would make you a tower of pancakes you could not see over and she always had a triple layer chocolate cake so decadent that the mailman would schedule his lunches around his stop at her house. Marguerite did not tell sweet stories that made you look at the world in wonder, she told you the truth about people and had a quick witted response when you found out she was right. She loved watching golf, tennis, basketball and Court TV. Marguerite did her best to make you laugh when your were sad and had a Bible verse for every problem with the worldly answer to solve them all. She was as stubborn as a mule and as sly as fox but even when she did not say it, you knew by the way she said your name, she loved you. She will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to have known her.
Marguerite is survived by her three children, Susan Riehn and her wife Melissa of Lake Charles, Kay Devillier and her husband Jason of Lake Charles, and Kenneth Alexander and his wife Lisa of Lafayette, who all inherited her striking blue eyes, remarkable intelligence, quick wit and engaging laughter. Her legacy also continues through her six grandchildren, Sara Gardner and her husband Ross of Colorado, Justin Benoit of Lake Charles, Samantha Jacobson and her husband Brydon of Lake Charles, Anne-Marie Alexander of Lafayette, Taylor Devillier of Arkansas, and Alexis Devillier of Texas; and three great grandchildren, Gabriella Parsley, Emily Parsley and Zachary Parsley. She also leaves behind her brother, JT Caprito and his wife Carole of Franklin and their children, Jay and Virginia.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 31, 2023, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin beginning at 12:00 PM with funeral services at 2:00 PM, conducted by her grandson-in-law, Brydon Jacobson. Following the service, she will be laid to rest with her parents in the Franklin Cemetery.
