Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced the arrest of Justin Dale Adams, 46, of Morgan City, in connection with a check cashing scheme at a Pierre Part retail outlet. Adams faces multiple felony charges.

The investigation began on February 9, 2024, when Assumption Parish Sheriff’s detectives discovered that three individuals had cashed several forged checks at the business in November 2023. The checks were later returned by the financial institution as fraudulent.

Arrest warrants were issued for all three suspects. Adams was taken into custody by the Berwick Police Department on May 4, 2024, on unrelated local charges. A detainer was lodged against him, and he was transferred to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on May 28, 2024.

Adams has been booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of Identity Theft, Bank Fraud, Access Device Fraud, Forgery, and Monetary Instrument Abuse. He remains in jail pending a bond hearing.

The other two suspects involved in the scheme were arrested previously.

Authorities continues to investigate the incident. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.
