John was born on September 12, 1944 in Iota, LA and was the eldest of eight sons born to the union of Ervin and Audrey McFarlain. He faithfully served his country and fellow man in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, and was honorably discharged on May 5, 1967. He married the love of his life, the former Rita Billodeau, and of this union they were blessed with two sons. John was a longtime and faithful parishioner of the Church of the Assumption, where he often served as an Usher and was active with the annual St. Joseph’s Altar. He retired from Cabot following many years of dedicated service. He was focused and meticulous in all he did and was an avid football fan. But, above all at heart, John was a devoted family man who cherished time spent with those he loved.

McFarlain Jr. and his fiancée Tammy Brack; his granddaughters, Holly Mitchell and her husband Matthew, and Heather McFarlain; three great grandchildren, Emery and Parker Mitchell, and Cillian McFarlain; five siblings, Glenn McFarlain, Marcus McFarlain, Brian McFarlain, Randy McFarlain, and Dwight McFarlain; his brother-in-law, Charles Billodeau; his sister-in-law, Linda B.
